Yay for meat!!! Japanese BBQ places are great for meat lovers (me)! And since they were having a coupon promotion, here I am!!Thinking that they might be super busy with the promotion, I was surprised that only a few tables were occupied. The place is decorated in a clean and simple Japanese style, nice and quiet overall. Yay for meat!!! Japanese BBQ places are great for meat lovers (me)! And since they were having a coupon promotion, here I am!!
Thinking that they might be super busy with the promotion, I was surprised that only a few tables were occupied. The place is decorated in a clean and simple Japanese style, nice and quiet overall. The hostess took us to a bar table with BBQ stove located conveniently between us, and we could easily adjust the heat ourselves, I really liked that! My seat faces the bar, but it was blocked by a few big Japanese wine (sake?) barrels, so I didn’t feel like I was watching them work; I liked that too.
So drinks and food: I had a Melon wine cooler, which is like white sangria, but with melon as the only fruit flavor. It was very yummy at first, great balance between white wine and soda with melon syrup~ but then half way through I realized it wasn’t stirred well and I started getting gulps of pure melon syrup… I was sad to give up half the drink… My friends said her apple drink (clear glass) was okay.

In a “cook it yourself” place, I am not going to comment on the texture of the meat, it isn’t their credit or their fault if we nailed it or overcooked it XD So I should focus on the flavor, however, I would still like to say that the meat they served were of pretty good quality.
We tried most of the marinating flavors they offered here, first of all, Morihachi style short ribs, their top seller, were very nice and delicious! Not salty enough to my liking but the flavor was good.

My second favorite of the night is pork belly with Korean spicy sauce, this one is more flavorful and very nice too, not very spicy. They prepared this in very thin slices so it cooked fast!

We got 2 different chicken meat, one in salty lime sauce, which I really could taste it after it’s cooked ; a spicy goma miso sauce, which was quite rich in miso flavor, but again, not quite salty enough for me.

Korean style short rib and kimchi soup was very much like a thickened Borscht soup, it continued boiling in the stone bowl it was served in! Yummy and fun!

Last but not least Truffle foie gras chawanmushi, it took REALLY long! We asked about it when we were half way done with dinner, and it didn’t come until after we had finished all the other food. I was okay with it since we were just talking and catching up, and they were very apologetic about it too; but I can imagine it could upset some people. It was worth the wait though!! Foie gras was very thick cut, not crispy on the outside but more like a braised texture, well flavored though! The egg was heavy in truffle flavor; overall it was kind of oily from the foie gras and the truffle oil but it was very delicious!
