We ditched the Japanese restaurant we had booked and headed to central market to try get a seat at I-O-N on a busy pre xmas night with no booking. Luckily we got a table but in the causal dining area as the main dining area was reserved for an Xmas function. It was ok as was in the corner and Central Market on a Friday night isn’t heaving with people at this time of the day. We decided go order a small shareable platter where we could select 4 dishes, we selected the typhoon shelter style stir

We decided go order a small shareable platter where we could select 4 dishes, we selected the typhoon shelter style stir fried fish n chips with hot spices, Hamachi tartar with gin-infused watermelon and the Deep-fried popcorn shrimp with garlic sauce. I would say the platter is typical deep fried bar snacks and nothing special, but it is well presented and a good tasting platter to warm you up for the main courses.

Eventually we decided to order two mains for sharing, there is a limited selection and we chose a reliable black angus rib eye - medium well 😱(never had medium well before 😳 but my companion’s preference) and the barbecued cod fish.

The steak arrived first and had a great crusted sear to it. I sliced it for sharing and it was medium well as requested but was still tender and juicy due to the quality of the meat and the high heat used to seal on the juices! The potatoes and vegetables were a good companion to the dish and nothing standout about them.

But the real high light was the bbq cod fish, when it was served it was only then I realized the significance of the name it mimic the HK style BBQ Pork and Fried Egg rice and bloodily hell did it taste nice. The fish was moist and marinated with BBQ pork sauce and tasted as though I was eating pork. The rice and quail egg I think were a nice garnish to complete the theme but overall we enjoyed this dish and it is one of their signature dishes here and recommend!

To be honest for the price we agreed, for the setting there are better places for dinner as basically we were seated in the basement of a dungeon next to a thoroughfare 😳

We decided to skip dessert and go elsewhere for a change of scenery.
