Nice food but what’s the benefit of booking

Booked here to take advantage of discount and mentioned my birthday.When we arrived there was no table prepared (we were a part of 5). Fortunately the restaurant wasn’t busy and this quickly rectified.The good is very good and tasty. However when the bill arrived the discount wasn’t applied, had to ask for it.My points are:- why wasn’t the restaurant aware of our advance booking- what’s the point of asking if it’s a special occasion- because they weren’t aware of the booking there was no discoun

The good is very good and tasty. However when the bill arrived the discount wasn’t applied, had to ask for it.
My points are:
- why wasn’t the restaurant aware of our advance booking
- what’s the point of asking if it’s a special occasion
- because they weren’t aware of the booking there was no discount applied
Can’t fault the food though
