We ate here as a group of 10, big party for skewers I suppose. The location is next to Ichiran Ramen, and the interior decor is quite nice, with Japanese elements and warm lighting. But we sat at the high tables and chairs, not my favorite thing to do while eating a full meal. That night we went was kinda quiet, no crowds no lines, so it was a nice change from the usual Hong Kong restaurants which are filled to full capacity by eager patrons. We ordered a lot of food to share, and tried so much stuff of their menu. We ended up with soo many skewer sticks! The most memorable dish for me, however, was the Gobou 牛蒡 snacks, marinated in those sweet Japanese soy sauce but it was just right.
There are some creative dishes like the fish roe and black truffle scallops and gyoza chicken wings. I don't eat fish roes so I haven't tried that, but a friend absolutely loved it. The scallops were ok, black truffle was a nice touch, but it didn't blow me away. I love foie gras but I was a little disappointed, the first round was great but the second round was slightly overcooked. THe lamb chops were kinda chewy and had the strong lamb taste which not everyone liked. Most of the other regular dishes like chicken wings, beef, corn, leek, mushrooms, etc were normal tasting. Again, it was all ok-good, just not at the OMG-SOOO-GOOD level. I liked the Japanese yam and lychee-bacon rolls though!
Oh and the non-alcoholic drinks were great! Except for the over-sweet grapes drink, the other two I loved. A few of us had beers, which always go along well with bbq skewers.
I would recommend this place if people wish to sit a bit longer and drink. However, I felt like it was kinda pricy for the quality of food we ate. I understand it because rent must be high and their food sources might be better than the MK dives. But for the menu prices we were not impressed by the tastes or textures of most of the stuff we ate.
