Under the coronavirus outbreak, we were lucky enough to try this high tea by the Peninsula without the hectic queuing experience. The hotel staff measured our body temperatures before letting us in, which is understandable and necessary. We arrived at around 2pm, the restaurant is located at the lobby of the hotel, the tables were not full, around 40% I reckon. There is a live orchestra with violins and cello at the 2nd floor, the music they played were very enjoyable. The tea menu is set and on
I would say the tea set could be improved, especially the home made tea pastries, we could not finish the macaroons beacuse it was too sweet, and there was a small tart with a weird taste (not exactly durian but kind of durian and lemon? it's just weird). Savoury pastries were decent, we had finger sandwiches and scallop with pumpkin sauce. Scones were big, nice and hot with jam and cream.
Overall the high tea experience was fun and this was the first time I came living 20+ years in HK. However, to be honest, with this price I would try lunch menu next time, if I decided to come again.
