Normally, we stay away from groupons for set meals, but we took a punt on one for YP and visited just after lunch time on a Thursday.  We were seated and given the special menu.  We opted for a ceasar salad, a tomato soup, confit duck and a pulled pork sandwich.  All of these (except the duck) are on the regular menu and having eaten the dishes, we would return for more.

After ordering, the waitress brought over a small yorkshire pudding for each of us and poured gravy over them.  This was an unexpected 'gift' from the restaurant and it put us in a good mood.  Being an Englishman, yorkshire pudding was a Sunday staple thoughout my youth.  While not quite as good as my mother's (of course not!!), this was a very decent version.  It hit the spot and we readied ourselves for our starters.

The soup tasted good.  It reminded me of the soups made by Covent Garden Soup Company in England.  It was smooth and had that sharp, but sweet tomato flavour that any good tomato soup shoud have.  The salad was also good.  They actually had a small fillet of anchovy on it too, adding another level to the salad.  Many places do not use anchovy in the dressing, but a good ceasar uses the salty little creatures to their full advantage.  It was a good, solid ceasar with the traditional accoutrements.

The mains came to us promptly and we instantly went for the confit duck leg.  This is a risky dish.  I have had countless dry, crappy versions over my lifetime and was a little dubious.  This one was done right.  The flesh was soft and yeilding, flaking away from the bone with ease.  The skin was crisy and fully rendered.  Wow!  Delicious.  The duck was served on beans and chorizo, making a sort of cassoulet.  It was full of flavour from the sausage and was massively satisfying.  If it isn't a regular menu item, it should be!

The pulled pork sandwich, at first, looked a little small.  However, the little morsel packed a punch of wonderful soft, tender pork and cheese, packing a small section of baguette.  It was lovely and dipped into the bbq sauce, made for a happy mouthful.  It was served with fries that were nice and crispy.

We had a very good experience at YP and would definitely go again.  The duck was a real standout champion, but everything was good.
