Walked pass the outskirt of the central business centre and was attracted by the tiffany blue decoration of an exquisite restaurant. As it was my first visit and I didn't research beforehand, I allowed the waiter to recommend me for professional choices. The waiter asked whether I had any dietary preference and I said none as I am a normal eater who aren't picky. The waiter then recommended me on a new menu of the season and I trusted the choice without asking into details.

Tomato Salsa Toast

I was first served with a tomato salsa toast. The tomato and red onions are chopped into small pieces and marinated with vinegar and parsley. It went okay with the freshly toasted french roll. The small salad on the side was also fresh but of a tiny portion.

Second course was minestrone soup. Skinless cherry tomato, chopped onions, carrot pieces are boiled to a soft texture. The tomato soup was heavily tasted with herbs, black peppers and olive oil. The good side was that the soup was hot enough, meaning it was freshly boiled to serve. There was a toast going with the soup, which was actually the same combination with tomato and toast as the main ingredients. Even there were two appetizers for this menu, the two course shouldn't be so similar.

Organic 5 Grains Rice with Wild Mushroom in Cream Sauce

I was really shocked when the mains came -- organic 5 grains risotto with wild mushroom in cream sauce. Even a vegetarian menu would have some protein alternatives like fish, but this surprise menu had offered none but a blend combination of tomato, mushroom and carbohydrates. Commenting on the risotto, the taste was actually not bad. The mix of 5 different grain types making the rice having various chewy textures, and they were all cooked to their suitable length of time so that they were not too soft and starchy nor too hard to eat. Mushrooms were fresh and went well with the cream sauce, making it a filling main course.

Lemon Cheesecake

Lastly, a lemon cheesecake was served as a dessert together with coffee or tea. Soft cream cheese was used to make the lemon cheesecake, and thus the texture of the cake being on the soft size. The lemon flavour was gently sour to make the cheesecake more refreshing.

When the waiter took my drink order, I originally would like to have a cup of tea with milk. However, the waiter said he would not recommend as the milk tea would be very strong at the end of the day that possibly made me difficult to sleep tonight. So I asked for recommendation again, and he listed lemon tea, water with lemon or coffee. I actually wondered in heart that why would the tea with lemon be exceptional if the tea with milk suffered from such disadvantage, and on the other than coffee should have a much higher caffeine content comparing to black tea no matter how strong it was brewed. It would be very unprofessional if they brewed the tea together with the milk for all day. Anyways, I went for a cup of coffee at the end. It would definitely not stop me from sleeping tonight as it was not very tasteful.

As a surprise menu, it was a very disappointing choice. It would definitely be considered as a disrespect to offer a meat menu to a vegetarian, and I regard it as the same vice versa for offering a completely vegan menu to a non-vegetarian. Maybe some part of this mistake was due to my silliness not to ask for the menu in advance, and to assume that dietary preference meaning only stating if you are vegetarian. Sounds like next time I should deliberately state that I am a non-vegetarian after learning this lesson.
