A foodie friend told me about these spiral shell noodles which in Chinese is pronounced "lore see fun" so I thought she went fuscilli but it turns out that the broth is stewed with snails hence the name but there are no physical snail pieces in the noodle.Anyway, decided to try give this place a try.About half of the menu is spicy, so I chose some vegetables and sweet and sour pork.Started with the Liuzhou spiral shell noodles which have an overwhelming smell that stinks the place if you don't l
Started with the Liuzhou spiral shell noodles which have an overwhelming smell that stinks the place if you don't like it and I would describe this smell similar to urine.
I believe the culprit was the bamboo shoots.
The soup was quite salty so the noodles were quite tasty but I couldn't taste any spiral shells in the broth as it was quite spicy. The Peanut in vinegar were not sour. As for the Sweet potato leaves with marinated bamboo shoots, it also had that smell and the whole dish was very oily. The sweet and sour pork was very likeable and it had osmanthus flowers in the sauce and the pork was nice and crispy but too fatty for my liking. Finished with the Pineapple and orange juice drink which tasted like squash. I think we chose the wrong stuff this time so I probably want to come back and try the Spiral shell soup and duck's feet in spiral shell pot for a proper Liuzhou experience.
