My friend and I were looking to hotpot in TST - so we wandered around Hillwood Road and stumbled upon this restaurant.
Upon entry, I was surprised at how traditional Cantonese style the restaurant was, which actually made me want to favour the restaurant more.
The service was attentive, but slightly pushy - they do have a wide selection of seafood which is great as well as imported oysters, clams, and the like - they sell out of many things though.
The menu is extensive, and they claim to have a lot of beef, but the beef cut wasn't particularly great for what they were charging, the soup base we had - fish head and bitter melon, did not taste of much, but they have an extensive list of soup bases.
One odd thing, we ordered beancurd sheets - and I prefer mine soggy - but the moment I left it in there for more than 3 seconds, 2 waiters told me on separate occasions that I should only soak it for 3 seconds and eat it half wet half crispy.... which is a nice suggestion, but they clearly are very over zealous about this and it was rather annoying being told how to eat your food. In my opinion, it tastes better soggy!
But you should try it half half,
The one great thing was that, our soup was never empty, and they would come and spoon off the foam every now and again, in terms of getting service it wasn't hard, they were perhaps just a bit too aggressive for my liking.
We ordered, beef, fish maw, veggies, beef balls, bean curd sheets, tomato dumplings (not great) squid etc - nothing really stood out as really outstanding, except for their scallop sashimi which actually was very very very good.
Would recommend this restaurant more for seafood and sashimi bar - not so much as a hot pot restaurant. I do not think I will be returning, but it wasn't a horrible memory either.
