There is a current dessert trend in South Korea to have soft serve vanilla ice cream served with drizzled honey and a bit of honeycomb. Sounds yummy, right? There are currently two shops that serve this type of ice cream here in Hong Kong. One shop is Honey Granny in Hung Hum. The other is Honey Sparkling Desserts located in Mong Kok. This evening, I visited Honey Sparkling Desserts in Mong Kok as I was in the area. The shop is small and cutely designed in a pastel blue color. Sweet little stuffed
Sweet little stuffed bees are every where. The menu in both Chinese and English, also had photos. Boyfriend and I shared the Honey Bee to try. It came in a very small cup with an equally small portion of Hoikkaido milk soft serve ice cream with a small bit of honey comb. It looked dainty and sweet. It tasted disappointing. The ice cream was soft and not very sweet which was good but it also didn't taste very milk-like. There was no drizzle of honey on the ice cream which was a disappointment. The honey comb was basically wax. Yes, I know honey comb is wax but I don't understand this current health trend in eating wax. There is no health benefit at all. Though it is edible, you don't digest it and it just goes through your digestive system, undigested. Anyways, I did chew on the wax hoping for some honey on it but there wasn't. It was just a small bit of chewy wax. At one point, I swallowed it by accident without chewing properly and I gagged like when you accidently swallow gum. For $45, I expected honey drizzled on my ice cream. I expected the honeycomb to have some honey stuck on it, but there wasn't any. Ice cream was fine but it tasted like the soft serve ice cream from McDonald's. I love the soft serve ice cream at McDonald's. The difference is that McD doesn't charge $45 for it.
Won't return.
