First of all, I want to say the location of Oolaa is far.. (bring a pair of hiking shoes if you want to visit during lunch hours) second of all, set prices for lunch sets are equivalent to the more "civilised" estabishments in Central / Soho area. The service? The service? Appauling... the staff just could not resist the temptation of restaurant patrons waiting for other friends to arrive before ordering. We were reminded time after time if the other guests are coming every 2 mins by various staff as well as the manager (just to be clear we booked a table for 6 and only waiting for the other 2).
The noise level, as previously pointed out by other patrons, Oolaa was in the "high" to "Chinese restaurant yum cha" levels.
The salad bar option for the lunch menu seems a bit stingy. Only allowed to visit ONCE (thats right! ONCE ONLY) and the bowl given were smaller then the average soup bowl, where many of the other restaurants in LKF/Soho area provide unlimited refills and I must say the other restaurants' salad bar have much wider selections and pricier seafood options.
The most disturbing thing about the entire experience was Oolaa really have a problem with patrons sharing food. If you didn't order the set lunch, then you're forbiddened to share your friend's salad, EVEN THOUGH you have ordered a an a-la-carte main course. THAT I found to be illogical and cheapest to the max!!
Food wise, it can only be categorised in the "average" calibre, I've had worst, but I've had so much better lunch options in the area. The steak was dry and the portion was quite small. The pastas weren't much better neither.
In sum, don't go with the slightest hope of great service and hospitality. Its a nice environment for afternoon tea perhaps, but for those who go for the food? Don't bother.. Oolaa will just set you up for dissapointment.
