A coworker had come here for a few days ago and showed me the cute latte art they did for her coffee. I talked to boyfriend and we decided to try this place for dinner one evening.Cafe Charm's is a bit hard to find for someone like me who is not very familiar with the Hung Hum region. Cafe Charm's is a bit hard to find for someone like me who is not very familiar with the Hung Hum region. It's located in the Whampoa Garden area of Hung Hum. For those not familar with Whampoa Garden, it can get confusing. Luckily, I had a coworker who lived in the area and helped me find a direct bus from Hong Kong island to here. Take bus 115 and two stops after you cross the harbour, you are there!
Cafe Charm's is a rather spacious cafe restaurant serving your usual cafe style dishes such as all day breakfasts, pastas, burgers and desserts. Menu is in English and Chinese with photos a plenty. Boyfriend and I came for dinner so we shared our food.
Clams in White Wine ($86). We shared an appetizer of clams steamed in white wine. The clams were quite fresh and not over cooked. It was topped with sliced mushrooms. A very simple dish that was done ok. Mentaiko Cream Spaghetti ($76). Very very creamy sauce that was not watery. There also some chunks of bacon added which was quite nice. The pasta was al dente which is how I like it. All was topped with nori and bonito flakes. Wagyu Beef Burger and Fries ($127). We added extras to this: bacon for $18 and honey onions for $13 because we love our burgers with this. If you don't add extras, the burger only costs $96. The burger included lettuce, tomato and cheese. The patty was cooked to a medium rare and was quite juicy. A reasonably ok burger. The bun tasted quite nice and was lightly toasted. The sauce used had a slight tang without being too strong. Fries included were crispy and a decent size. Strawberry Waffle ($76). We decided to share a dessert as we saw the customers next to us order waffles. Can't pass up a waffle moment! It came with a scoop of ice cream that has a rich strawberry flavor and bits of strawberry in it. The waffles were topped with fresh and sweet strawberries and whipped cream and sprinkles. The whipped cream had a lovely sweet taste that is a rarity in Hong Kong as majority of places serve unflavored whipped cream so all you are eating is just ... well ... cream. The waffles were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. It was still warm and smelled really good. A pretty good waffle.
