I love Hana Musubi but there was never a place near enough for me for convenient take away. But now they have a branch in Sogo's department store and I was stoked!Selling all different types of onigiri for around $20, I loved these little triangles of rice. But this branch has something different. It has tamagoyaki! This shop is geared for take away only. Everything is labelled in English and Chinese. I decided to buy a box of four different types of tamagoyaki for $55.It was packaged in a clear
Selling all different types of onigiri for around $20, I loved these little triangles of rice. But this branch has something different. It has tamagoyaki! This shop is geared for take away only. It was packaged in a clear plastic box. There are four different types: thick cut sweet Japanese style fried egg, Japanese style fried egg with dashi sauce, grilled eel egg roll and spicy cod roe salad egg roll.
This is the Japanese style fried egg with dashi. There was only two thick slices. The egg was soft and fluffy with a bit of sweetness but not too strong. I like this one.
This is the sweet Japanese style fried egg and there were only two thick slices. This I felt was a bit too sweet like it was soaked in sugar. I felt it wasn't as good as the dashi version.
This is the grilled eel egg roll. There were three thin slices. Seriously. Where was the eel? It was so small, I really don't know what it tasted like as all I tasted was egg.
This was the spicy cod roe salad egg roll. It came in three thin slices. Personally, this was my favorite. Perhaps I am biased as I love everything mentaiko. This was nice and had a good balance of filling with egg.
It's too bad they only sell them in a variety pack. You can buy the regular versions but in one cup but not the ones with filling separately. Too bad as I would purchase the spicy cod roe version. Unsure if I'd purchase this again and probably just stick with their onigiri instead.
