Was asked by my friends to "Gough 40", after a recent TVB show on the developments on Gough Street. Was asked by my friends to "Gough 40", after a recent TVB show on the developments on Gough Street. Have been to the restaurant previously for lunch, whereby price and food value is reasonable, considering Central / Sheung Wan location.

However, this Saturday's dinner was DISASTROUS.

Although the open area seating is pleasant whereby the whole side opens up for al fresco style dinning, but am not sure if the tables at the front are legally approved.

The menu is QUITE BASIC already (less than 10 main courses), and when my friend and I ordered the duck breast (~HK$240) and the angel hair pasta with Japanese mushrooms and uni (sea urchin) (~HK$220). The waitress came back after 15 minutes informing that the duck breast is sold out, and uni is not available as it is not in season.

We kindly asked the waitress what is available then, and she "rudely" snapped back that "Everything Is".

She was not courteous and was simply not helpful, as (1) the restaurant could have informed at the beginning that the uni pasta is not available, as they should know about it already - unprofessional; (2) when 2 out of 10 main courses are not available, can the restaurant simplt recommend something - staff not helpful or willing to help.

We then ordered the veal (~HK$240) and mushroom with angle hair (~HK$200), and ridiculously enough, a male waiter (n.b. not the waitress, as she is too ashamed and never came by to our table again) approached and informed that the veal is sold out also. 30% of menu NOT available!

The pasta which came eventually was not exceptional, although the texture is decent, the usage of olive oil did not bring out the taste of the mushrooms.

In summary, a POOR dinning experience.

Service - POOR
Décor - Good

For the price above, numerous options in town are available (e.g. Cenacolo or Al Dente in Soho, Sabatini in TST, Mistral in TST North).
