I noticed this new cake shop when I was in the shop beside to get a manicure. Curious, I went to look.8b Dolce originates from Osaka with branches in Korea. Originally showing up as a pop up in Sogo a few times, I would sample a piece of roll cake when I walked by. Soft and fluffy, it seemed ok.Now, they have an actual shop in Causeway Bay. Now, they have an actual shop in Causeway Bay. Located in Hysan Place. on the floor where they sell mostly women's lingerie. It's basically a take away counter where they sell not only roll cakes, but also something called a "sand", As I didn't want a whole cake and wanted a snack, I bought a sand.
This is the strawberry sand. Price? $30. It was two sponge cakes sandwiching strawberry cream. It was sold wrapped in a plastic bag.
There wasn't a lot of cream sandwiched between the cake. It also looked like a whoopie pie. And that is exactly what it was. No idea why they call it a "sand"? Tastewise? The cake was spongy. The cream tasted ok. But it felt like I was eating a Twinky. For those that did not grow up in North America, a Twinky is a packaged cake that children like to eat because it was sweet and cheap. $30 felt a bit pricey for something that had the texture of Twinky. It was ok but I think a bit over priced. I think the roll cake is the better bargain. The sand is something one should really skip out on.
Maybe back to buy a roll cake. But definitely won't return or recommend the sand.
