It was an evening without planning of where to go for dinner in advance. We walked around without any ideas in our head of where to go. Walking along the road, we came across this authentic and traditional Japanese restaurant by the side named 八王子. I remembered seeing it on Openrice so we decided to give it a try. The restaurant was very Japanese-like, something that you would expect yourself to find in Japan. The decorations in the restaurant were nicely presented with colourful ancient Japanese posters and fancy portraits and items such as bottles of wine and beer. As we sat ourselves down, we heard a table of Japanese drinking and laughing loudly. I thought, the food being served in this Japanese restaurant must be of a good and high standard. Yet, I was wrong.
As we flipped through the MENU, we were caught in wonder as to what to choose out of dozens. The MENU was very colourful and thoughtful in illustrating the best of all kinds. It took us a while to pick what we wanted; due to my sudden eager of sushi, we ordered Special Sushi set (特選壽司盛合), Eel with cheese roll (鰻魚芝士卷) and Grilled Pork with Kimchi served in a stone pot (石窩燒豚肉泡菜) + Rice.
A random interlude occured at the middle of our meal: an angry couple was next to us arguing all along, not only on personal matters but also the fact that the ramen they ordered was wrong and the girl seemed to be extremly mad about it.. since the tables were so close to each other at this restaurant, we felt as though this couple was arguing right in our ears..it was quite a scene to 'hear' .. lasted for like..an hour? Great....
Last but not least, something I have to mention, our bill cost us HKD$192 per person. Seriously over-priced with these over-rated food as shown in Openrice!! Guys don't be over-excited when you come, if you ever get a chance that is. I shall not return, given this price range and this quality of food.
Goodbye, the 'eighth-prince'. Long live the prince.
