Came to PMQ to check out the 1600 Pandas with boyfriend and his sister. While wandering around from floor to floor to find the hidden special edition pandas, I found this really pretty cake shop. Inside they also sold cupcakes like Natural Chiffon, the other cupcake shop in PMQ. The only difference is that Natural Chiffon iced their cupcakes with cream where as Phoenix Sweets also iced their cupcakes with fondant. They also sold fondant iced cookies and take cake orders all using fondant icing.

Fondant is popular among many cake shops for they make prettier looking pastries as you can mold it to whatever way you like. Thus, everything looked beautiful and I couldn't resist buying something.

The shop also served coffee and tea. They also had a small fridge that sold Happy Cow ice cream, a local vegan ice cream brand.

For their 1600 Pandas contribution, they made some special edition Panda cupcakes and cookies.

Since I had a cupcake at Natural Chiffon just half an hour ago, I didn't want to eat another cupcake (even though they looked so beautiful!) and I'm not a big fan of eating fondant on my cupcakes or cakes. I tend to think it too sweet and I just pull it off anyways. But I don't mind them on cookies! So, I bought myself a jar of panda cookies. The small jar of cookies were crammed with pandas big and small and other cute shapes like stars and ice cream. It also cost $180. The staff informed me it was a pretty good deal to pay for $180 for some cookies as the jar cost quite a bit of money as it is made in Italy and not China. Hmm ... right. Anyways, the cookies were not only pretty to look at but actually quite good. Nice and soft but not so soft they fall apart. Not so hard, you break your teeth when bitten into. They were not overbearingly sweet and had a faint taste of vanilla. A pretty good sugar cookie.

Next time I return, I'll try a cupcake.
