My boyfriend and I were looking for a place for a romantic dinner date, and came across La Parole as they are offering tasting menu. The tasting menu was a 5-course meal, the appetiser was Purple Yam and Sea Urchin with Balsamic Vinegar Jelly. It was quite interesting in texture as the yam was crunchy and the jelly was chewy. The sourness of the jelly gave us an appetite!

Next was the Fresh Jumbo Clams Mariniere with Shallots and Onion. The clams were so fresh, they didn’t quite need any extra seasoning, Chef kept the dish quite simply and it contrasts with the first appetisers. But we do enjoy the clams a lot!

Then it was a Spicy Avocado Chicken Tomato Soup with Nachos. I have to say it sounds quite odd to me, but wait till you taste it! If you enjoy some Mexican food, I’m sure you would love it. The spicyness gave you a good kick, with the tenderness of the chicken and creamyness of the avocado. They perfectly recreated the Mexican flavour but in the soup form and it was a pleasant surprise!

I ordered the Pan Fried Duck Breast with French Premium Foie Gras with mashed cauliflower as my main course; while my boyfriend ordered the Pan Fried Premium Black Angus Rib Eye with Seasonal Vegetables. The duck breast was smokey, and they tasted quite pleasant with the homemade gravy and raspberry purée. The Foie Gras added in some fattiness to the dish, but the sweetness of the strawberry balanced it quite well.

We shared our dessert as we couldn’t choose which one we liked the best, so we ordered the Orange Soufflé with Vanilla ice cream and Estonian Mixed Berries Cheesecake. The Soufflé is full of orange aroma when they served it, the fluffyness of the soufflé was also the best part of it. They didn’t have the orange sorbet that night so they substitute it with vanilla ice cream, but they still go perfectly together. What could go wrong with a freshly baked soufflé and ice cream right?

After all, we did enjoy our French dinner date here at La Parole, it would also be an ideal place if you are looking for a restaurant to spend the night with friends gathering with good food and wine.
