Date: Sat 11th Sept 2010 2.45pmI came to Sevva today for Afternoon tea set today. We were worried there would not be a space. We were seated at the bar area waiting to be taken to a sofa outside. as it was raining there were minimal seats outside. We waited for quite long til we asked one of the waitress when could we be seated. Then she checked outside and said there is one space left. we were seated on the right side with a very comfortable sofa.We ordered the tea set for 2 with a ice coff
I came to Sevva today for Afternoon tea set today. We were worried there would not be a space. We were seated at the bar area waiting to be taken to a sofa outside. as it was raining there were minimal seats outside. We waited for quite long til we asked one of the waitress when could we be seated. Then she checked outside and said there is one space left. we were seated on the right side with a very comfortable sofa.
We ordered the tea set for 2 with a ice coffee and a ice milk tea (I know, so Cheese!!!) Anyhow it was so relaxing as it was not crowdy or noisy. As it has been raining, the temperature was cool with a nice breeze.
The tea set came quite quickly. It looked quite pretty. It tasted average for the price that you pay ($460) BUT I have to say, for the atmosphere, for the service, for Sevva, it is worth it.
The tea set has combination of sweet and savory mini bites. I first tasted the seaweed and peanut butter sandwich. Yes it sounds very disgusting but it actually taste VERY good, the taste goes well together!! There is also tuna mayo on a slice of apple, it looked wrong, but tasted quite well together. What a wild combination but I like it.
I loved the smoked salmon on muffin too. It is less heavy than a bagel but tasted just as good, and their salmon tasted so good. Everything came in two portions apart from the mini burger and the mushrooms on rice cracker. i did not try the burger but my companion said it was average, tasted more like a sandwich than a burger. But 'thumbs up' for the mushroom on the ricecracker. The rice cracker was very crispy and the mushroom was seasoned so nicely, too bad only one piece.
There was a piece of chocolate cake which was way too sweet and egg tart with guava sauce on top. That was not my kinda thing, was too sweet and too fruity. I was eager to taste the crunch cake, as i do love the crunch cake from maxim, and was eager to taste the 'better' version. It seem so light and fluffy, so delicate. It sure tasted light and fluffy, it even melts in your mouth. But i did not like the hint of orange/tangerine flavour.
we sat there chilling for quite some time and left approximate at 5pm. The service was average and not as bad as some people have commented here. i ahve had much more worst experience.
I later returned for drinks at 10pm. As it has been raining, not alot of people. Had a standing table by left side, and i must say, the scenery at night is superb. It is definately a place to enjoy the atmosphere and have a good chat. Or even just a nice relaxing drink place. it is bit more pricey than other place, but you won't find another bar as nice as Sevva i guess.
