Hello, This Friday Night we decided to go eat in This restaurant call Shanghai Min. And that was not only a good choice but it was inspired. Of course it was not all perfect far from it but definitely worth going again in my point of view. This Friday Night we decided to go eat in This restaurant call Shanghai Min. And that was not only a good choice but it was inspired. Of course it was not all perfect far from it but definitely worth going again in my point of view. First of all, we were seated quite quickly and unfortunately we were right under the A/C, after a while as it was very cold and seeing 5 tables empty we requested if we could move. The first waiter listen to us and ask us to wait a moment but never came back to give us any positive/negative answer. My girlfriend requested then another waitress if we could move and again we did not received any answer, finally she requested it a third time.... and third is the charm, this waitress immediately accepted and ask us to try another table before moving anything to make sure it was not too cold for us. So after checking it we decided to move, and she assisted us in doing so. on that note as it is rare i would like to make a note not he table setting. it is simple but the logo on the chinaware is discreet but present, each person receive a full set of serving spoon and chopstick and eating chopstick, but the best in it is the table cloth which is embroiled in the center with the name and logo of the restaurant, I personally liked it.
Well this being done we ordered our food, and almost everywhere i go there are always dish out of stock in the ones i choose wether it is chinese food, western food, always or almost always a dish will be out of order.... and this time was not better on that topic.
We choose the ribs (out of stock), we choose duck (out of stock) and at that point I just decided not to choose anything and let my girlfriend pick. she successfully find few dish that could be served, and what a pleasant surprise it was. the food was serve promptly although the restaurant had been busy. but we received our fried fish. We ordered 2 (its a minimum order) but if I hd known i would have ordered more. This is a must try for anyone. It was crispy, but the meat of the fish was not overcooked and dry, at the contrary it was jut right. honestly a simple great amazing dish...Love it. Then we had some Xiao Long Bao, it was good. we had one order of pork ones and one of crab ones. (5 pieces each). The dough was a little bit thick and chewy but the rest was great. it was juicy, moist meat, tasteful and if you are craving for some... order it it won't disappoint you in any ways.... Not the best Xiao Long Bao for me but in my top 3, definitely. I would regret not be given some vinegar and soy sauce to make my own mix to go with it, instead we were serve vinegar and ginger that was not cut thin enough to enjoy the delicate flavor that should accompanied that delicate dish. We also ordered some fried pork with green bean and carrot serve with some kind of sesame pita pocket (sorry I don't remember exactly how they called it) that was good, unfortunately a little bit dry, and the puff pastry pocket was not serve warm which might have help, and it was not baked properly. Of course those are details that most of us will not pay attention to or do not care about, nonetheless it is a good dish worth ordering. We also received a dish of crab and rice in a steel pot. Although we were afraid it might be too spicy for me it was not the case. It was tasty and and serve to perfection. slightly spicy, but not to the point of overpowering the delicate taste of crab.
The tea was refill regularly, and the service staff except for the disappointment of the changing table event, was professional and responsive.
The prices were good and correct considering it is in central and the food was very good and the service is the only thing that let us down but not to the point to ruin our evening.
As i said it was a pleasant surprise and I will definitely go back, and hope to be able to taste the duck and the ribs.
