It was near midnight and my friends and I were looking for a decent restaurant to have a later supper in. We tried poking around SoHo, but no kitchens were open. Fortunately, we found this place at the last moment and were impressed by the fact that we could get a proper meal at this time of the night.We first had some olives, which were paired with garlic as an appetizer. We first had some olives, which were paired with garlic as an appetizer. The combination of the spicy flavours of the garlic and the tangy, ripened olives left me wanting more. I was already looking forward to the next dish, which was fried 'Manchego' cheese. This one had a crusty surface with tasty warm, molten cheese inside and brought us away from the chilly winter night.
I was glad to see that the staff were attentive and asked us if we liked the food. We ordered two more dishes: a Spanish omelette and some fried squid. The omelette was decent and had a good filling, but the highlight of the meal was the squid. It was perfectly cooked and did not have the annoying 'rubbery' texture that I was used to. I recall that it was cooked in olive oil and chili, both of which enhanced its flavour.
This was a tapas bar, hence the portions are a bit smaller. We were quite famished, so it would've been nice to have dishes that filled us up more. At the same time, the smaller size of dishes allowed us to sample a greater variety of them. I will definitely return in the future to indulge in some more late-night tapas.
