Last week my husband and I went to Balencia in Tai Wo Plaza for dinner to celebrate his Birthday. We are regular customers of Balencia. We ordered the Chicken and Pumpkin Doria (No. 17) and the Beef Burger and Fries (No. 34).I regret to say we were greatly disappointed with both dishes yesterday. The quality of the food was, to say the least, horrible, compared to what we had before. Not only was the Doria rice dry, it was tasteless. I regret to say we were greatly disappointed with both dishes yesterday. The quality of the food was, to say the least, horrible, compared to what we had before. Not only was the Doria rice dry, it was tasteless. My husband had beef burger, which was no better than the fast-food quality. The meat and bun were mediocre, and the fries were soggy.
What was worse, the restaurant staff didn't know how to explain the reason for the poor dishes, but only to admit that the chef is no longer the same as before. We felt as if both the dishes we ordered were cooked by an amateur chef. My husband, who is Japanese, was in particular disappointed as he is always a supporter of Japanese business in Hong Kong.
Unfortunately, if the quality of food at Balencia remains at this level, we will not return there in the future.
We tried to write to Balencia about our experience but all we received was a standardised reply. It seems they have no interest in the comments. Very disappointing.
