Popsy Modern Kitchen is the brainchild of Sheung Wan’s private art gallery dining room Popsy Room. I had a wonderful time at Popsy Room and heard a lot of great things about Popsy Modern Kitchen. Popsy Modern Kitchen is the brainchild of Sheung Wan’s private art gallery dining room Popsy Room. I had a wonderful time at Popsy Room and heard a lot of great things about Popsy Modern Kitchen. It landed itself a plush spot in the new The Wellington Building. I couldn’t wait to try out this new dining experience where art meets fine dining! Jennifer Chung, the founder, artist and dining curator of the two spaces warmly greeted us and shared with us the entire concept of the restaurant/exhibit space. The place was stunning, bright and spacious (seating up to 80 guests.)

Look at this gorgeous space. I couldn’t help but stare at all the pretty paintings hung around the place as well as the beautiful flower wall behind us! The art pieces and wall paintings will continually change every few weeks. So you can keep coming back to see all the cool artsy stuff.

I started with a fruity guava cocktail. Just wait….there’s more! You see the artsy sprays (food coloring sprays) in the background? Well we used them to decorate our drinks!!!

Oh gosh. Guess which one’s mine!?

The beef tartare $168 came out first. The beef tartare had a simple signature Balsamic Raisin Reduction sauce, egg yolk and was served with crispy raw garlic crostini. We devoured the beef tartare and wanted more. We decided to hold back from ordering more since we still had a lot of food coming.

Tuna tartare $168 came next. It was also paired with balsamic raisin reduction, homemade pickled cucumber, and crispy raw garlic crostini. The tuna tartare was a great appetizer. Simple, clean and refreshing!

The signature crispy volcano egg $118 was delicious! The egg was encased with parsley breadcrumbs on a bed of sautéed mushrooms, asparagus puree and crispy purple potato strips. We LOVED this.

Lobster Bisque-36 hours

We all ordered the 36 hours crafted lobster bisque $168 with bubble milk foam, crispy crostini, with parsley butter puree. The bisque was rich, velvety and bursted with flavor.

We got a nice bottle of red wine to go with our meal! Look at that beautiful decor.

roasted angus beef tenderloin

The roasted angus beef tenderloin $398 with slow cooked egg, mushrooms, artichoke, fregula pasta, and mushrooms creme. That egg and fregula pasta was sooooo tasty. The roasted angus beef tenderloin was amazing. As soon as you cut into it- it’s completely like butter. The beef was tender, juicy and soft.

Crispy pork $268 with apple puree, mashed potatoes, crispy pork crackling and apple cider gravy. The pork skin was really good but was just missing a bit of something-it needed a little bit more sauce.

Silky Black Cod

Silky Black Cod $268, zucchini ribbons, cured lentils, buttered brussel sprouts. The black cod fish was delicious! Juicy, tender and moist- I loved the cured lentils. We kept going back for more.

port Wine Spring Chicken

Port Wine Spring Chicken $268 with deep fried polenta, homemade pickled radish, green peas, carrot and port wine jus. Spring chicken done two ways. Nice and tasty.

Scallops on Ink Pasta

Scallops on Ink Pasta $238, French seaweed bread crumbs, squid ink tagliatelle, crispy kale chips, and parmesan foam. Ohhh, the pastas were great. I loved this! The squid ink pasta was perfectly al dente, and the scallops were sweet, juicy and hearty.

Scampi in the Clouds

Scampi In The Clouds $258, Angel hair pasta, crab roe and sea urchin creme. This was pretty good too! I really liked the crab roe and sea urchin creme as well as the scampi. Juicy and plump.

Coffee Gravy Lamb Chops

Coffee Gravy Lamb Chop $298 with pistachio, eggplant tempura, eggplant puree, and mediterranean couscous. The coffee taste wasn’t too strong but that didn’t make these lamb chops any less delicious.

Signature Marble Center

Popsy Modern Kitchen’s signature Marble Center $168, Chocolate Fondant, Hazelnut Chocolate Marbled Center, Chocolate crumble, raspberry, red currants and apricot jelly. LOVEEEEEE! Such a beautiful dessert and I loved the melted and hot chocolate center. A must order.

Raspberry Surprise

Raspberry Surprise $158, delicate raspberry tart, cinnamon crumble, chocolate tuile, strawberry chips, cinnamon ice cream, peanut butter dust, apricot jelly. This was sweet and tarty- I really liked all the accompanying sides for this raspberry tart.

Earl Grey Disco

Earl Grey Disco $158, earl grey cake surprise, white chocolate crust apricot puree, pistachio, rum infused cherries, drizzled with vanilla bean sauce. This was really yummy too. Gosh, I was so full by this point.
