During the holiday season, boyfriend and I went to D2 Place to check out the Sanrio Christmas Market along with their Christmas decorations. Wanting a bit of food, we went into the first cha chan teng we encountered. It was pretty big and there were some people eating. Menu is in Chinese only. There is no English and no 10% service charge. The sets all came with a drink. I usually don't take a photo of the drink unless it's impressive or out of the ordinary. The sets all came with a drink. I usually don't take a photo of the drink unless it's impressive or out of the ordinary. Well, this was out of the ordinary as it was served in mini pitchers. This was a big BIG drink.
I had the macaroni in tomato soup with fish balls and chicken wings ($38). An odd combination I have never had before but food is food. The wings were ok but the soup was pretty salty with next to no tomato flavor. The fish balls were very very soft and tasted like a sponge. However, portion size was pretty big.
Boyfriend had the chicken curry with rice ($41). The chicken was surprisingly deep fried before hand. They were also in huge pieces. I guess they deep fried it to cover the strong stale taste of frozen meat. But it was too strong for boyfriend and he couldn't finish it. The curry sauce wasn't spicy and had a strong peanut taste. It felt more like a satay sauce.
Food was pretty dismal. It was no wonder there weren't that many people dining here compared to the other cha chan tengs surrounding it. Portions were big but food wasn't that good. Won't be back.
