Recently I've been lucky and found a few Chinese restaurants that are pretty high in quality and has private rooms to host events/dinners. Dragon Tann is one of them. Located in the middle of nowhere (it's not close to MTR nor is it close to any major commercial buildings) I'd say it's relatively difficult for the restaurant to get any walkin traffic, this means the dinning environment will be slightly better than those crowded Chinese restaurants. A nice amuse bouche of grilled eel on top of Shanghainese fried rice. Quite rich but I liked it.
Braised South African abalone with caviar. Quite a delicious combo. Looks very presentable as well.
Shark fin with fish belly. I think they are pretty good at making shark fin here. Surprisingly it's not too rich.
Trout with onion and shallot. I'm not a big fan of fish in Chinese style but I found this quite okay.
Slow cooked beef with honey. A little too sweet but you can tell the beef is quite good.
Some veggies.
Soup with crunch rice. A bit like 西施泡飯, if you add a bit of chili it's even more delicious.
I would say this is a nice surprise. Although it's in the middle of nowhere in wanchai so it's gonna take a bit of walking from either Wan Chai or CWB MTR. Price is fair, place is quite clean and the food is really not bad. I think this would be a perfect place for a private business dinner or wine pairing event. The staff are quite friendly and helpful too.
