I decided to go to the talk-of-the-town C'est la B when I was done with a function in Admiralty and hadn't had a proper meal well past my usual dinner time. The black shop front wasn't that easy to notice in the dark...The inside of the shop, aptly decorated with beautiful butterflies, was closed for cleaning and so I was asked to sit in the area outside.Which still looked colourful at night from the city lights...although I'd rather sit here in daylight. Having seen pictures of the beautiful Ra

Having seen pictures of the beautiful Rainbow Club - A C'est la B Club Sandwich with a difference... ($125 + 10%) in the reviews here, I had no hesistation in trying it out.

[Excuse me for the suboptimal quality of the photos, you all know it's a pain to take photos without flash at night.]

It definitely looked spectacular. At first it may seem weird to use black (bamboo charcoal) bread in a club sandwich, but the whole thing became quite cool when it got served on a glossy black plate.

From the description on the menu, the contents of the Rainbow Club were as many as the colours of the rainbow - the sandwich had got French ham, cheese, omelette, avocado, roasted chicken & salads in between layers of spinach, beetroot, bamboo charcoal and saffron handmade artisan breads. More simply put, between the layers of black bread were a variety of meats, eggs, veggies like avocado, lettuce and tomatoes sandwiched between green (spinach), beetroot (red) and saffron (yellow) bread slices.

Costing some 5-6 times than your usual club sandwich, C'est la B's version stood out by its cheerful colour scheme - which sort of boosted my mood after a long hard day at work. The meats were flavourful, although I'd have loved less mayo, as the creaminess of the avocado had smoothed things out already. The colours of the bread didn't mean any difference in taste - I did appreciate C'est la B's effort of using natrual ingredients, instead of artificial colouring, in tinting their breads, which I think we should see more of such examples around town - having said cost being a major concern.

Despite the sheer size of the sandwich I managed to finish it all, but guess what, I though the best part of the meal was the salt & vinegar crisps (which I absolutely adore) that came with the sandwich!
