I remember a while ago there was this huge gourmet burger craze. That seemed to die down and now we're entering the elevated fast food style burgers. Brought on by Shake Shack and Five Guys, this is the type of burger I prefer instead of the snobby gourmet burger. That is where we found Belly Boys. It was located in an area where there are a lot of cheap eats. A place I go to often for a quick bite. The entrance had a interesting looking mascot.Though it is small, there is seating inside with a
The entrance had a interesting looking mascot.
Though it is small, there is seating inside with a few tables and a window seat.
Menu is in English and Chinese. There is no 10% service charge and you order by scanning a QR code that is also in English and Chinese. They also have afternoon tea sets which is what we ordered from as they come with drink which is an excellent deal.
As both our sets had fries, they pooled our fries into one basket. It wasn't a lot and we were wondering if this is the same portion for one person or if the tea set portion of fries is really a very small amount. They were good though. Very hot and crispy with nice fluffy centers.
I had the Belly's Smash Burger and Fries ($55). A single patty that was very juicy topped with a perfectly melted slice of processed cheese, onions and lettuce. The bun was a delicious brioche. There was their special sauce which tasted a bit like the McDonald's Big Mac sauce. Pretty good!
Boyfriend had the Cheesey Fried Chicken Sub-Sandwich and Fries ($55). This was supposed to be served in a hoagie but it wasn't. It was served in the same bun as mine. That was a bit strange.
The cheese sauce was a bit sad. There just wasn't enough. The fried chicken wasn't a patty but literally two pieces of fried chicken pieces. They were good though but not what we were expecting.
Definitely do the burgers. They are really good. The chicken sub was good but not a sub. Perhaps they ran out of the bun that day? Will be back and try the Philly Cheesesteak. Someone in the next table said though not authentic, it tasted pretty good. I've had a lot of not authentic Philly Cheesesteaks in Hong Kong and not one of them tasted good so I'm curious to try next time.
