Between Kisses and Twelve cupcakes, I'd have to pick the former. That's not to say Twelve is bad, it's just I prefer my cakes made differently. (Although Twelve has a more interesting range of flavors on display). I had taken a short hiatus from eating some wonderful cupcake, but today, I decided, it was time to have some red velvet in my life! I've tried some of their other flavors as well, such as the ferrero rocher and the s'more - which are both good, but I just like red velvet a bit more! T

The taste of Kisses' red velvet just makes me go 'mhmm!' There's just a wonderful taste, and texture of this cupcake that makes me want more!
The cream cheese is not overwhelming or thick, nor does it have a sort of sour/tangy taste. It is airy and soft and just yummy! It's a wonderful pairing with the cake base!
Now... the cake part of the cupcake isn't as amazing on it's own! It definitely needs the cream cheese topping. It's a winning combo! The cake on it's own, to me, tastes like ordinary sponge cake with a few drops of red food coloring.
The thing about Kisses' cupcakes are that the cake without the 'frosting' on top is pretty bland. But the reason why I prefer Kisses to Twelve, is definitely the consistency of the cake! Twelve isn't bad, but their cakes seem to be leaning more towards 'muffin' rather than 'cake'. I don't know about you guys, but I prefer my cakes moist and airy, not heavy and muffin-like!
If you go to Kisses DEFINITELY, WITHOUT A DOUBT, get the red velvet!
