There are more and more restaurants opening up on the East Kowloon side, and I recently visited Ulivo, an Italian restaurant and bar located at The Quayside for a relaxing dinner. We tried out their Chef’s Tasting Menu priced at $388 hkd per person (minimum of 2 persons) + 10% service charge ✨


The tasting menu comes with 3 appetisers, 2 mains and 1 dessert which is guaranteed to leave you feeling satisfied.


Starters:
— Vitello Tonnato
— Asparagus Flan
— Classic Tomato Bruschetta


Mains:
— Purple Potato Gnocchi or Pappardelle with Beef Cheek Ragout
— Baby Pork Ribs or Seabream Fillet


Dessert:
— Panna Cotta


📝 Overall review:
— The pasta (Pic 1️⃣) was definitely the highlight, we were told that the chef is from the Piedmont area, and specialises in handmade pasta, so there was no surprise as to why this dish was so tasty! The pappardelle was cooked to an al dente texture and soaked up all the goodness from the sauce.
— Baby pork ribs (Pic 2️⃣&3️⃣) were not too dry and the sauce was flavourful enough alongside the ribs. Really enjoyed the roasted potatoes on the side which were fragrant and well seasoned.
— The bruschetta (Pic 4️⃣) was my favourite appetiser, the tomatoes were fresh whilst the bread had a rich herb taste to it.
— The asparagus flan (Pic 7️⃣) was very interesting and unlike anything i’ve had before. The texture resembles a soufflé and had a strong vegetable flavour to it. The cheese sauce was so rich and decadent though slightly too heavy.
— The desserts (Pic 9️⃣) were also a highlight. Panna cotta was creamy and smooth and the raspberry sauce had a good level of acidity and not overly sweet. The profiterole was an extra, though the texture was slightly too soft and had an overload of chocolate sauce.
