It's on my priority list to try this restaurant after I read an article about it in the magazine.  Then, I read the one & only one comment here at Openrice.  I started to query whether this is an up to Michelin Star standard restaurant.  After discussion with my friend, we still decided to experience it ourselves before making any unfair judgement.The location and the decor of the restaurant are not advantageous, no juicy element at all, my first impression is that it's very "Can-teen" (used to

The location and the decor of the restaurant are not advantageous, no juicy element at all, my first impression is that it's very "Can-teen" (used to be in IFC) style.  I understood that they would like to build a down-to-earth element in Kwun Tong area, but still, they should keep the hospitality as long as the restaurant named under Briketania.  Service is so-so as well, the waiter just can't wait to clean up the empty dishes on your table the minute you finish the course, quite annoying indeed. After all, it's not a Cafe De Coral

We made the right decision to bring our own wine.  Corkage is $200/bot and they will waive the corkage if you buy a bottle from their menu.  Honestly, the wine selection is lousy and very much over-priced.  Hence, we'd rather open our own bottle.

Cripsy 63 centigrade egg lobster sauce & wild mushroom
This is probably the most interesting dish in the tasting menu, at least the combination is a good match.  The half done egg would never fail anyone and it's delicious with the lobster sauce and wild mushroom.

Smoked French eel with cress and blackcurrant
I could only taste the blackcurrant dressing as the sweetness superceded the eel.  Suggest them to tone down the dressing a little bit in order to bring the original taste of the eel.

Beef tenderloin rossini, foie gras, truffle and bordelaise sauce
We wonder why noone asked us about how we would like for the tenderloin, they just came to our table in medium format.  The meat is very tender but lack of beefy taste whilst the foie gras is crispy outside yet not juicy centre.  What a disappointed main course!

Honestly, I really regret ordering the tasting menu coz they didn't include the signature dish of the restaurant.  I did something silly, i.e. ordered another dessert which is said to be their must-try item - French chocolate puff with vanilla ice-cream.  I couldn't believe that's the only dish that really impressed me that evening.  I suggest diners to order a-la-carte to be on the safe side since the tasting menu doesn't really worth the buck you spend.
