When I first realized that Tartes & Pop is actually set at Sheung Wan, I find it very convenient to locate and I can easily drop by after school for some sweet treats. The concept of this French pastry shop has been very successful, where is owned by two French friends who make some of the best fine gourmet pastries in Hong Kong.

Indeed, the flavors come in a delicious variety such as lemon, chocolate raspberry, orange with earl grey, plus some signatures including coffee creme brulee, sesame matcha and a monthly special peanut banana. I know right!

First, it is the coffee creme brulee. It is his favourite. The filling is a cream infused with brewed coffee, a just-set custard, very rich and creamy. Finish with a perfect layer of caramelized sugar for a bruleed top.

The sesame matcha has always been one of the most popular items at the shop because it is made with high quality matcha powder that gives a rich tea flavor and bitter aftertaste, a crunchy chocolate crust and a delightful sesame mousse in the middle.

My favourite is surely the vanilla strawberry. This tarte combines an excellent buttery biscuit crust, vanilla custard cream with visible amount of vanilla beans, strawberry jelly and the amazingly fresh strawberry compote that has been mixed with juices of lemon and lime.
