Not as familiar with the menu choices available at this restaurant (seems mostly Chiu Chou); so I ordered an old favorite: Yeung Chou Fried Rice. The rice was quite well done and I was especially impressed with the fact that most of the meat was muscle - with little if any fat. It was not only more healthy, but also made me feel that I was getting better value for the meal. Somewhere through the meal, I discovered one of the shrimp pieces was partially armored. No big deal, and easily avoided. T
The quality of the dish was still high and well balanced. However, I felt that it could have been a bit less oily. Of course, there is the expectation that fried rice should be oily to a certain extent; I merely feel that a small reduction would really liven the taste of the dish considerably!
Service was prompt and courteous.
The tea could have been a bit more flavourful and/or at least stronger in order to balance the oil of the rice. But, this may be fanciful on my part.
The price is a bit steep compared to a typical chan ting (HK cafe), but the location and quality almost certainly necessitate a premium for this staple dish.
題外話/補充資料:
I was very impressed with one interesting thing - not seen at any other restaurant in Hong Kong : The table-top mini/teaser menu included one section with a selection of 'reduced' meals (ie less sugar, oil, and salt) for healthy dining. It may not be the 'healthcheck' designation (promoted by the heart and stroke foundation); but it is a very encouraging and touching step in the right direction. * Due to the unique nature of this, I have elected to add an extra mark to the environment - because gestures like these mean a lot.
*That good food can also be healthy food too!
