Randomly visited this restaurant in Tinhau which has been here for years. I didn't hold any expectation before visit, ending up there's something specially hidden behind it! I ordered Sichuan dan dan noodle (you can pick the spiciness) with a side of spicy okra (additional topped with garlic). Sichuan dan dan noodle was incredibly flavourful. I ordered Sichuan dan dan noodle (you can pick the spiciness) with a side of spicy okra (additional topped with garlic).
Sichuan dan dan noodle was incredibly flavourful. Peanut butter was at the bottom of the soup which you have to mix it well before eating it. Soup base was full of chilli flavour with a hint of meatiness from the stir fried minced. Soup was just right, not too thick or runny. Peanut butter sauce acted as a thickening agent. It was topped with peanut chunks and mince which gave a crunchy crumbly texture. Generous amount of thin noodle was soft and very satiating to eat, especially coated with the soup.
Cold okra was very crunchy. The crunchiness and the sliminess from the inside could tell the freshness of the okra. It was absolutely refreshing. Couple chilli with diced garlic were topped which gave a garlicky spiciness! With a hint of saltiness from the soy sauce, it was a simple dish but absolutely nailed it.
Another highlight apart from the deliciousness was the staff. There was only one staff on the day I visited and it was insanely packed. You could tell she was trying so hard to manage all the food deliveries and cleaning. She was the first staff out of my dining experience who would use a clean towel to wipe each table every time. Not just wiping the table surface but the edges, the toothpick container and the whole tissue box. What even more was that she apologised to every guests that she could have served better as she's the only person working today. Even she had been doing a good job.
It was absolutely an amazing dining experience that I will definitely come again. There were so much more to try and this staff for sure worth a compliment. Highly recommend!
