No doubt I am a meat lover, during my stay in the states I have been eating Steaks at least once a week, pretty sure would be twice a week or so! Well it is easy to cook steak but it is’t easy to make a good one, and recently a few steak house in HK is doing just Steak and Frites and becoming a big hit so I reckon we should as well check it out.No reservation will be entertained, we were there by around 18:15 and about 15 guests were in front of us. No reservation will be entertained, we were there by around 18:15 and about 15 guests were in front of us. They won’t let you in until everyone from the group arrives, be there before 18:30 will probably guarantee a table at the first round.

Decor was nice, and after you sit down you just need to tell the server how would you want your steak to be cooked. No doubt I am picking medium rare and my friend got her one with medium instead.

So our meal started with some bread, I am surprise the butter that they offered are packet ones….. the bread wasn't too bad though

A salad will be served for each guest, greens, vinaigrette and walnut! I am okay with the tangy salad but my friend found it too acidic for her. Adding some walnut in the salad is a very wide idea though, it makes the salad not just crunchy, but crispy in a way.

And finally we have our steak!!! Steak came with frites and a green sauce. Sirloin was the meat that we get in this place. Not expect to see much marble or fat on the meat but it just went so well with the secret green sauce. Very rich in texture and the portion are served half together with some hand cut fries and the restaurant staff will warm the other half serve for you to ensure you don’t get to eat cold meat. The hand cut fries was really impressive, very crispy and remind me of the best fries I had in my life in Frying Squid (Dunedin , New Zealand).

So right, bread , salad, steak and frites cost everyone of us $288 each, pretty good bargain I guess? And we decided to grab some sweets before we go, a wide selection of dessert is available, and no doubt we are getting their 2 signatures, le Vacherin d’été and “Relais” Profiteroles.
“Relais” Profiteroles consist of puff, filled with ice-cream, and they pour a rich dark chocolate sauce on top and some toasted almond, a good combination but it isn’t very surprising.

le Vacherin d’été, consist of Meringue, raspberry sorbet , vanilla ice-cream , ripe cream and berry sauce! First of all with this combination can hardly go wrong, the sour favour of raspberry sorbet balance up the sweetness of vanilla ice-cream and meringue, and the texture of meringue was nicely done so we really enjoyed this this.

Um…. overall service was okay, if it is a 50 years old restaurant originated from Paris, I think the service standard is not attentive enough. With this price perhaps I shouldn’t complaint though.
Two meals plus 2 dessert and a bottle of sparkling water come up to a total of about $900 for 2 , reasonable priced.
