Haven't been to Myung Ga at World Trade for a while, so decided to go with family. Called in the morning of Sunday and managed to get a booking for 7 to 8:30pm surprisingly! Used to always be fully booked!Arrived at 7pm and was seated inside a the "seperate" room like area, quite nice seems its spacious and less busy than outside. Arrived at 7pm and was seated inside a the "seperate" room like area, quite nice seems its spacious and less busy than outside. Noticed that the Jap bbq place opposite it has closed down - had gone once or twice and remember it wasnt anything specatcular.
Anyway, we quickly ordered the myung ga special gal bi (marinated), the spicy pork tenderloin, a basket of vegetables for wrapping, a seafood pancake, as well as the kimchi pork soup.
Everything was good but nothing special. While the Myung Ga Special Gal Bi was juicy and tender, I didn't notice much difference to their regular marinated gal bi, which is what i usually order. The bone was much larger, so evidently was "different", but perhaps not taste wise. It was a big portion that nicely fed the three of us.
The vegetables basket was just that - vegetables at a high price. Would be much appreciated if these come for free like in Korea.
The seafood pancake was nice as usual. We ordered regular size, which was really quite small, but enouhg for us three. 2 small slices each.
However, the kimchi pork soup of a big dissappointment. Very bland and the pork used did not seem to be of good quality. I think the soups at Myung Ga are really not their strong point. Stick with the bbq and you will be fine.
Otherwise, still a fairly decent dinner with good service and nice environment. I think with all the different new korean restaurants coming up recently, business has definitely slowed down for Myung Ga.
