The Ma's restaurant has been in HK for decades and I wonder actually I've patronise this restaurant when it was in Kowloon City with a different name then, it was many years ago and back then one could look into the kitchen through a glass pane.
I came in off the rush hour in the afternoon and seat was available at once, there is set lunch for those working or student of schools nearby, but I aimed at the more famous things of the restaurant. I ordered a medium size Mutton Soup, and two pieces of pan-fried Beef Cakes at last. Off the peak lunch hour they were all ready within 10 minutes time.
The Mutton Soup had only three things in it, namely mutton, coriander, and vermicelli. The mutton was very fresh and very good portion of the sheep without much bone attached was used, tender and juicy mutton was wonderfully blended with fragrance of coriander, the coriander leaves not only enhanced taste but also looked a very beautiful garnish to the soup as well. The soup could have been made better should more time be put into boiling resulting in a little bit thicker texture, but I think it was already good enough for the price. The vermicelli was good filling the stomach too.
The Beef Cake must be ordered in pair, at first I didn't recognise there was so much juice inside the wrapping and it ruptured all over the plate, gaffe! The wrapper outside the cake is very thin, elastic and chewy, although not a good suggestion to rely on it to fill your empty stomach the pan-fried golden cake skin tasted so good. The cake is stuffed with minced beef, shredded cabbage and green onion, the filling and juice appear brown and is a little bit on the side of sweet rather than savoury in taste. Some may feel the filling and the bag of juice in the cake rather oily, but the crunchy cabbage in your mouth alleviates and balances it out to some extent.

Worth a try for more than once, next time I'll explore other items on the menu.
