‘Listening does not rely solely on ears; silence never means lacking communication’. Friends/ Go Inside Cafe is a social enterprise that promotes social integration between the deaf and the hearing. Moved by the rationale, it was my third time here. Deaf servers are in black shirt and communicate with customers through simple sign language (formal one and universal pointing) and writing- basic communication is not a problem. There are also few hearing staff members. Talked to one of them and learnt that she joined because her mum is hearing impaired.

The food. Set dinner ranges from $88 to $248.Daily soup, pumpkin soup is dense with pumpkin and potato pieces- fulfilling but not creamy, my cup of ‘soup’! The staff member presented the soup alongside the writing of ‘It’s pumpkin soup today’. Sweet and efficient.
I had E. Linguine with Caribbean flying fish roe & smoke salmon in cream sauce ($138) as main. A bit different with the Chinese description of white wine cream sauce. The English one is more accurate as I could not taste the flavor of white wine. A rosy smoked salmon on top of a stir of fish roe-coated linguine, mushroom, and small salmon pieces. Sticky and creamy sauce. Would appreciate some warmer food.
Hot lemon water as drink. Two pieces of standard lemons in hot water. Nice under a cold day.
Last but not least, may everyone indeed ‘returns and listens to their heart’ and ‘be true to yourself’.
