Second-visit to this eatery.The restaurant looks clean and nice from the outside, during my first visit about 2-3 weeks prior to this, i have mixed feelings. A man in shirt and pants (i believe he is the boss) greeted me and was very courteous and took my order promptly. The restaurant looks clean and nice from the outside, during my first visit about 2-3 weeks prior to this, i have mixed feelings. A man in shirt and pants (i believe he is the boss) greeted me and was very courteous and took my order promptly. Nice Ar.
We order 3 pack dishes, namely, Scallop fried rice with eggs and two other dishes. (wouldn't be talking about these food in this particular review as it will be done separated). However, after 15mins, I'm still waiting for the food. Thru my observation, the 3 waitresses were constantly talking to each other, and act like very busy. Keep walking up and down, but i saw my packed food is already at the window (between the kitchen and the serving area). I have to ask her, then she check the 'window'. While taking the styrofoam box, she opened the box 3 times to see what is the food inside, and kept talking to her 2 other colleagues. I heard her mention that these looks good to eat. But to me, it is unacceptable. Here I'm waiting for my food, and you are taking your own sweet time to pack the food and kept talking. after putting my food into the plastic bag, then she still slowly pack the sauce. I'm very puzzled why can't they do it while the food is calling but got all the time to chit-chat.
On this second visit, I ordered the 鹵水拼盤 & 小炒皇. I have to say the food quality is good! and will recommend to anyone who visits the shop. But i find it a little too pricey. I paid for $98 and $68 respectively. Being a big eater, i find the quantity too small for my liking.
Let's dive deeper on the quality of the food. The 鹵水拼盤 consists of:-
4 slices of Goose Meat
4 chunks of Goose Meat
1 hard-boiled egg
4 slices of 魷魚
4 pieces of 豆腐
4 slices of 紅腸
The 小炒皇 consists of:-
- 韭菜皇
- Squid
- dried small prawns
- cashew nuts
The 鹵水拼盤 taste is very closed to the Chiu Chow original taste. When i eat, it reminds me of eating in a Chiu Chow (Teochew) family home. The only difference is that i cannot smell the taste. That's why i rate it at a 4 out of 5.
The 小炒皇 is quite fresh for me, as seldom we can get this stir-fried combination. Nice and same comment. Nice to eat, but lacking 鍋氣。
This time round, the waiting time is very good. Was told that its approximately 8 mins, at the guy (same guy which i believe is the boss) offered to bring it to my car which is parked about 20m away.
My final comment here is i hope the boss will see this message, and educate the staffs. look at their business process. when serving customer, don't talk so much. Your food is good, and we'll continue to pay the price but your staff's ineffectiveness will drive your customer away.
