Whenever I'm in Japan, there are many things I always try to eat before I go. One of these is a beautiful Japanese fruit parfait. The sweet taste of fresh fruit topped with cream, ice cream and cake. Sometimes with jelly. Sometimes with something crunchy. It's no wonder so many Japanese women will sometimes wait in line for some of the best.Seijo Le Fruitier by Tokyo's Hotel de Suzuki. Seijo Le Fruitier by Tokyo's Hotel de Suzuki. With three locations in the Tokyo area (mostly in small neighbourhoods), they decided to expand into Hong Kong. Located in Tsim Sha Tsui, I was always curious. Though I've never visited the one in Tokyo mainly due to the fact that I only have limited time in Tokyo and too many places to eat that a place with a 3 star rating on Tabelog needs to be placed on the back when there is a higher rating elsewhere. So, when it opened here, I was curious. I wanted to give this place a try. But I saw they had a minimum charge and 10% service charge. That's quite a bit for a cake break so I forgot about it. Until I was in the Tsim Sha Tsui area and I was given this flyer for a $28 discount if you share a photo on social media! This is good for any parfait that you order.
Located in the street behind Mommy Pancakes, is Seijo Fruitier. The outside is white and so is the interior. They have one table for a large group. But the rest is one long bar table.
Inside you'll find fruit based cakes and fruit cups.
They also have pastries that have been shipped from the shop in Tokyo.
The chef makes each parfait and drink in front of you. Fruit is freshly cut when an order arrives.
I noted they stored the fruit on a shelf. I don't know ... some of that fruit didn't look Japanese?
Menu is in English, Chinese and Japanese. They offer along with the signature parfaits but whatever fruit is seasonal at the time. These can be offered with a set upgrade which includes a drink and a pastry. Or you can order a cake which will include a drink. I noticed they had gotten rid of the minimum charge and 10% service charge. They will also give you a tablet of product shots of the parfaits so you get a general idea of what they will look like before ordering. And just like in Japan, you take your receipt to the cashier and pay there.
They also offer drinks as well.
I decided to order a strawberry parfait ($128 but only paid $100 after I used the promotional offer). It was not too big but the portion size was alright for a break. The parfait had strawberry jelly that was layered with cream, strawberries, bits of cake, a scoop of vanilla gelato, more cream, more strawberries and a piece of chocolate cake. And if that was not enough, a dusting of icing sugar. This was a strawberry cake in a cup form!
The strawberries were really sweet and juicy. Oh wow ... do I love strawberries and these were wonderful. The chocolate cake was fudgy and very chocolatey. The cream was sweet with a lovely hint of vanilla. It was fluffy and soft, exactly what whipped cream should be. The vanilla gelato was creamy and so full of vanilla flavor.
There was a layer of sponge cake that is often found in strawberry short cake. It was crumbly and moist.
And on the bottom of everything was a refreshing strawberry jelly. This was cup had everything I loved: strawberries, cream, ice cream, cake and then jelly. Every single item are all the things I love. It was all there.
The price is a bit expensive when it doesn't cost as much in Japan. But it was pretty much on par with the parfaits I've had in Japan so they didn't skimp on the quality here. Hopefully, they keep this up. I'll be back as I saw they had an apple one and I REALLY couldn't decide: strawberry or apple? Apple or strawberry? I'll be back for the apple next time! Hopefully, they still have the promotion!
