I saw the name of the restaurant on Open Rice and it peaked my interest. Alize Noire de Nova. Like a play on Alice in Wonderland who went down the rabbit hole. Noire meaning black. Nova being like a hole in space (like the rabbit hole). From their website, I found they had an afternoon tea set for two called Alice's Tea Party. This further peaked my interest as I love Alice in Wonderland. It was my favorite book as a child. So, my friend and I headed out to North Point to find this place.Alize N
Alize Noire de Nova is located in North Point and is fairly easy to find. It's literally right next to North Point MTR station exit A2. Their front entrance has their logo with what appeared to be bunny ears. It was pretty quiet but I assume it's due to the fact that they are new and also it was also the weekday. Restaurant is spacious and fairly large. We were given the afternoon tea menu that had drawings of Alice in Wonderland. I had already decided on Alice's Tea Party. An afternoon tea set for two. Price $288. The tea set included coffee or tea. My friend ordered coffee. I ordered tea. Tea is anything from their tea menu and there was a fairly decent selection. I chose pink rose buds with osmanthus tea. Originally, the staff informed me that my friend and I had to share one pot of tea. But I said my friend doesn't want to drink tea but I do. The staff was quite flexible and let us both order two different drinks. Anyways ... the tea pot and tea cup were BEAUTIFUL! The tea was also very nice. It was fragrant with rose and wasn't too strong. It was like drinking perfume. I liked it. Alice's Tea Party came in a three tier tea set. The staff explained all the items to us and stressed that EVERYTHING but the butter was made by the chef as he said that was not feasible to do. Um...I made butter as a kid. It's not that hard. Just time consuming. Bottom tier included two chicken and avocado sandwiches, one mini burger and French fries. The chicken and avocado sandwich was really good. It was on soft and fragrant ciabatta. The chicken meat was moist and tasty. There was also some alfalfa sprouts. My friend and I shared the mini burger. The bun was a brioche bun and was nice and buttery. The burger meat was medium rare and moist. It had a small layer of grilled cheese. The French fries were crispy. We were informed by the staff that the bread for the sandwiches changes daily as whatever the chef decides to make that day. Middle tier included two scones, strawberry osmanthus jam, butter, two passionfruit mousse cakes, two raspberry macarons, one passionfruit panna cotta. The scones were buttery and ok. But the star was the jam. It wasn's too sweet and tasted like eating fresh fruit. The raspberry macarons were ok. Not great macarons. but ok. The passonfruit mousse cake was packed with passionfruit flavor. The flavor was so intense, I wish it was bigger. The passionfruit panna cotta was equally packed with passionfruit flavor though the panna cotta could have been a bit more creamier. Top tier was toast with duck rillettes. The toast was super crunchy. The duck rillettes were very rich, it was like dunking the toast into a liver pâté. For $288, it wasn't an expensive afternoon tea set for two. Some items were wonderful. Some were just ok. Location wise, it is convenient but I don't know if I'd return as I rarely do go to North Point. But definitely an option for me if I do come to this area. This is definitely a nice place to eat for those that live in the area. Service was very attentative and eager to show their love for the chef. There was no 10% this time as the staff informed me as it was new opening, they are doing a promtion until the end of March where they will wave service charge.
