Whenever we talk about the best steakhouse in Hong Kong, the Steakhouse Wine Bar + Grill at Intercontinental is always mentioned. Being crowned the Steak King, I finally got the chance to try the steak house since HSBC Premier Visa Card is offering a 20% discount on every al la carte items which is an amazing deal that cannot be missed! The steakhouse has a similar settings and ambience to any other good steakhouse in Hong Kong - it is spacious, grand but causal at the same time. The steakhouse has a similar settings and ambience to any other good steakhouse in Hong Kong - it is spacious, grand but causal at the same time. The very attribute that makes the Steak House stands out is their charcoal grill, which is the one and only charcoal grill in Hong Kong. Despite that they are also known for the topnotch services and the eclectic selection of knives, steaks and condiments! I will explain more in below.
Seared Hokkaido Scallop & Apple Wood Bacon
For appetiser, we have the seared Hokkaido scallop & Apple Wood bacon. The Hokkaido scallop was pan seared to give a smokey edge. It was sweet, smooth and tender at the same time. The pairing with thickly cut Applewood Bacon and pineapple sauce was refreshing and delicious! I quite like this appetiser.
Rib Eye Cap Meat + Duck Foie Gras
We only ordered one steak to share as everything is huge in portion. The waiter already informed us the rib eye would be sliced upon serving when we made our order. I did not understand the reason behind it, but I was not very excited when I saw my steak sliced when served. Anyhow the rib eye cap meat was beautifully grilled with a nice charred and crispy rim. The rib eye was quite succulent with good chewiness. Yet I would not say this is the best stead I have ever had.
Cream Corn
The cream corn was quite yummy but not as creamy or flavourful as the one at Strip House by Harlans. The one at Harlans is the best corn on earth.
We ordered our dessert right at the start of our dinner as we were told it needs 30 minutes preparation time. We had the Exotic Alaska because M had never tried Baked Alaska once in her life!
