Date Dined: Wednesday 5th Jan 2011 12.40pmOrdered: 豚王 & 豚王 & 翠王Taste: First bowl of 豚王 was good. The soup was intensive, bursting with flavours. Rich in pork bone taste. Nice and thick. Which makes it quite filling. The noodles were thin and myself prefer ramen to be thicker. Give alot more texture, but the ramen reminds me of the noodles you get from those ten dollars wonton shop. Although I do notice there is this eggy coating around the noodles which makes the ramen not dry. The roast
Ordered: 豚王 & 豚王 & 翠王
The roast pork tasted good aswel, and was thick cut. there is about 2 pieces of roast pork in each bowl of ramen. Alot of spring onion and black fungus which i like. There are beansprouts kimchi on each table and white sesame. i like to add alot of white sesame to my ramen, makes it more delicious. I choose the soup to be quite intensive, next time I will choose it to be normal. the soup was too thick and creamy, there was not alot of soup left after sipping a few spoons.
First bowl i had, i ticked the box for miso, which turned out to be quite spicy, so we ordered second bowl without the miso which was so much better
It looks like a small bowl but it is actually quite a big bowl. took quite a time to finish it. I sadly did not taste the egg as it was sold out.\\\\\\
Conclusion: This is not the best ramen i have had in Hong Kong although it must be on eof the best. I loved their soup, so rich in flavour. But i dislike the ramen, it is too thin and not enough texture for me. I waited 1 and half hour, and to be honest I dont think i would return for another 1 and half hour ramen again. if i dont need queue up for that long, maybe half an hour i would return. I hope they can make more choices for ramen, it is abit more pricier than other ramen shop
they provide 4 different types of ramen :
2) 黑王 - Pork bone broth but with squid ink. So it is black. I saw the girl next to me ordered this. it was rather black. not something i would want to try. it is bit more expensive than the 豚王
3) 赤王- pork bone broth with curry or spicey miso in it. i think it is very spicey.
4) 翠王 - new fusion ramen. Pork bone broth with olive oil which amkes the soup green and with parmesan cheese in it. The taste is more intense.
They do not serve any Japanese snacks, they said they are focusing on the quality of the ramen. you can add sides to itthough, for example, seaweed or half cooked eggs. I wanted to try the egg, but they were already sold out. Next time i will not pick the soup to be too rich. It was too thick and tasted bit too salty. i will keep it normal next time.
You can choose the hardness of the ramen. i chose it being hard which came out normal. So maybe next time i will choose VERY hard.
