I have never figured out why foodies fall in love with Australia Dairy Company and Capital Cafe. Let's start with the coffee. While I am not saying that the coffee is in the same league as Fuel, or even Pacific Coffee/Starbucks, but it is much more drinkable than the Hong Kong style coffee in the run-of-the-mill Cha Charn Tang, which are absolutely horrid without sugar. The Hokkaido milk blends well with the coffee.

The scrambled eggs are not overcooked (at least during non-peak hours) and blends well with the thick toast. The scrambled eggs' texture is smoother than the regular scrambled eggs. I suspect that they have added milk to the scrambled eggs.

Lastly, the ham and macaroni in soup is awesome. I don't understand why this dish gets no love. The soup is aromatic and tastse much better than the right-out-of-the-can chick stock stuff in other restaurants. Remember to add the Japanese sesame oil to enhance the flavor.

Is $28 for the Hokkaido Breakfast worth the premium over the Australia Dairy or Capital Cafes of the world (which, by the way, is less than the price for a cup of coffee at Starbucks)? Definitely!

This is no question the undisputed champion of Hong Kong style breakfast in town.
