A few months ago, I went to this restaurant for lunch with my friends, altogether 3 ladies. 2 of us were in our early pregnant so we can not eat much.After we sit down, we asked the waiter if we can order 2 lunch sets and share, he said ok. So we order 2 sets and they give us plates to share. Pretty good service.When we finish the main course, a waitress asked us do we want "coffee" or "tea". When we finish the main course, a waitress asked us do we want "coffee" or "tea". Since we did not read the menu carefully so we said we want tea. But then we realized that why no dessert and hence we asked the waiter again, he told us "You did not ask for cake." But the point is s/he did not give us the choice. So we told him we want cake instead. After a couple minutes of insist, he served us the cake.
Then comes the best .... we asked for the bill. When the bill came I was very surprise for the total. 2 sets should be around 400+ 10%. But the bill was a lot more. When I read the detail, I found they charge us by item. That means 2 salads, 2 main courses and 2 cakes instead of 2 sets.
I asked the waitress why, she said she do not know and asked another waiter to speak to us. I was told because we share 2 sets, so they have to charge a la carte price.
He told me they do not make much profit for lunch, so they have to charge a la carte price if we share. I was very angry because (1) we asked before we order (2) they did not tell us and just change the bill and (3) they did not plan to explain until I found out. After minutes of debate, they change the bill to 2 sets but he said "Next time, we will charge a la carte, cos it is group policy".
