Prelude:

As a rule of thumb, if a restaurant has to hand out flyers, and has advertisements on the lift, it's a sure sign that it's not popular. We went to almost every floor of Kyoto Plaza - the chinese hotpot restaurant was fully booked, and another jap restaurant was incredibly expensive. So we ended up choosing this restaurant. Bad, bad choice. I should have trusted my gut judgement.

Food:

We ordered Salmon sushi (3 for $22). The price sounds not good for a middle class jap restaurant, but the size of these are tiny. The first bite that my dad took, there was a loud crack - sand. We suspect it was from not properly washed rice. When we told the waitress about the sand in the salmon, she was adamant that it was impossible. Way to alienate your customers.

The rice in the sushi had a very unusual taste - I'm not sure how to describe it, but I've experienced the same taste when people buy super cheap sushi from the MTR shops. It's probably a combination of cheap rice wine and extended shelf life. The mango/soft shell crab had an overdue fishy smell...

The only decent dish was the grilled mackerel. We also ordered a few other sushi's - nothing to mention there.

Price:

Now, we specifically ordered less than usual. Our second kitchen is "Itacho Sushi", and for three people, we eat an astounding array of sushi, totally around $450. Today, it was obvious that none of us were full. So, I'm expecting around $300-$400. Shocker: $500!

Turns out, just like the typical chinese restaurant, we got charged $20 pp for a SMALL PLATE OF WINTERMELONS in some syrup. I have NEVER been to a japanese restaurant where there are hidden charges - it's seriously daylight robbery. So that's an extra $60. Plus, the way they calculate the service charge is ridiculous - if you have any discounted foods, they first calculate the original price, then charge the 10%, and then take the discounts...

Seriously? It's obvious that they are a failing business, as they need to resort to such tactics to get by. Hence, let us all ease their pains and give them euthanasia.
