I really don't expect much from food court eating. I know it will be fast, cheap and will fill you up. I expect it to be reasonably edible. However, LHS Kitchen really didn't fill all those check marks.Located in the food court of Tai Koo's Aeon Style, LHS Kitchen serves Shanghai meals. Mostly in sets. Menu is in English and Chinese. Boyfriend and I shared a stir fried rice cake with beef set for $66. The set had two xiao long bao, stir fried rice cake with beef and a cup of soymilk.
This is the xiao long bao. It's amazing how they can mess this up. I think this is the first food court xiao long bao where it was terrible. The skin was not even cooked through. It was still raw. There was no juices inside. At least the filling was hot but it was dry from having no soup inside.
The stir fried rice cakes were super oily and oddly, no flavor. Yes, it looks dark in color but it was just the color. It had absolutely no taste. The beef was chewy and hard.
The soymilk was so sweet. It had no soybean taste. It just tasted like white sugar water.
For $19, we added a drunken chicken roll. The meat was so dry and tough. The wine was bitter. Honestly, we couldn't finish this.
I really don't expect good food in a food court. But I expect something at least edible. It was the worst thing I've had in a long time. I really won't ever order from this place again.
