Met boyfriend for some early morning breakfast. I noticed that this branch of Hunghom Cafe was new in the Causeway Bay area so we ate here.Hunghom Cafe is a cha chan teng but it's pretty big and spacious. Hunghom Cafe is a cha chan teng but it's pretty big and spacious. They have several branches but none of them near me until now. Menu is in English and Chinese. They serve basic cha chan teng food.
But while I was looking at the menu, I discovered something a bit more fancy. Truffle scrambled eggs with toast and a mashed potato ($36). It came with two pieces of thick toast that was generously buttered. It was toasted and crispy. The scrambled eggs were piled with truffle paste. I think a bit too much and I think next time I'll request without the truffle paste. The mash potato was pretty disgusting and tasted like it was made from the powder kind.
I added $3 for an ice tea. And did they give me a lot of ice. I think 3/4 of it was ice. There was so much ice, they fell out when I tried to poke my lemon down.
Boyfriend ordered a scrambled egg with toast, mash potato and fried fish ($37). There is one thing to say about Hunghom Cafe. Food may be mediocre but they really give you big portions. This came with three pieces of fried fish. The fish was piping hot and pretty moist yet with a crunchy coating.
A cha chan teng that gives you generous portions in a clean environment. Now that it has opened closer to my residential area, I'll be back.
