Came here as I was meeting friends for dinner who wanted to eat late and I was ... hungry. It was quick, inexpensive and it was nearby my dinner place.Toast Box has a chain of restaurants throughout Hong Kong, serving Singaporean meal sets at a reasonable price and no 10% service charge. I ordered a peanut butter thick toast set which came with an egg and a drink. I added $3 for a hot Milo.
The egg was a couple of fried eggs. I know it's been a while since I've been here, I recalled they used to have the option of semi soft, fried or hard boiled. But when I asked for semi soft, the cashier said only fried was available. The egg was ok. I really can't complain about eggs from a fast food type establishment. My Milo tasted like brown water. I stirred and found the Milo powder was still one big clump. The clump was so hard, I couldn't stir it around to dissolve it. But this is what got me a bit angry. I ordered a peanut butter thick toast and what they gave me was pork floss with condensed milk thick toast. This is not what I ordered. When I told this to the cashier, the staff informed me that this is what it said on my receipt and is correct. But I said that he had entered it wrong in the cashier and not what I ordered. He then said he couldn't change my order if it came out wrong. Annoyed, I went back to my table and ate this. I couldn't understand why the cashier wouldn't change this as this is not what I ordered and a mistake had been made. I can understand if this was a small mom and pop cha chan teng and they really can't lose money but this is a big chain. This was really unheard of. Anyways ... due to this unpleasant experience, I won't be back to this place. I may go to other Toast Box restaurants but not this one.
