Boyfriend got us vouchers from the Wine and Dine Festival where participating restaurants and bars in the city offer a $150 set that includes a drink and some food. We browsed about and decided to use it at Amazake. A Japanese restaurant in Central.The set included a salad, miso soup, sushi set, dessert and an amazake alcholic drink. The set included a salad, miso soup, sushi set, dessert and an amazake alcholic drink. But as we came at lunch, the bar wasn't open and they substituted with juice or soft drink.
The salad was a decent size that included radish, cherry tomatoes and lettuce. Drizzled with a sesame sauce. Salad was fresh and lettuce was crisp.
Miso soup was ok. Fairly strong in taste with bits of tofu and seaweed.
The sushi set included scallop sushi topped with salmon roe, hamachi sushi, salmon with roe sushi, eel maki topped with chopped tuna and sashimi of shrimp, hamachi, scallop, salmon roe and salmon. It was fairly ok and seafood was fresh.
The dessert was mochi ice cream. It was ok and reminded me of the things we used to get at the end of those all you can eat Japanese places. And then we realized this place does this in the evening and weekends!
Food was ok and for the price fine. But apparently lunch prices cost more and definitely not that worth it. Service was a bit slow because it seemed they brought out the same food in batches. Doubt we'd be back.
