A group of us decided to meet up for catching up since it has been awhile since we last met. We decided on San Nam Yuen as it was free flow style and we can chat comfortably. It was located at Hua Chiao Commerical Centre, couple of minutes walk from Mongkok MTR. They do have few pricing options to choose from and we decided on the seafood hotpot. They do have few pricing options to choose from and we decided on the seafood hotpot. It consisted of one-time seafood platter, sliced beef chuck, free flow of 40 over hotpot items and drinks etc.
Their drinks, fried items, vegetables, seasoning and sauce section were placed outside for us to take ourselves.
Shortly after we were seated, they asked us to choose the spiciness level of the chicken pot. We go for small spicy. The portion was just right, not too much. Chicken was marinated till flavourful and juicy, slightly spicy as well. Fried cut dough sticks were provided as well to go along with the chicken.
For our soup base, we go for crab and clam flavour. Soup was clear and sweet, absorbing the essence of the ingredients in it such as corn, radish and mushroom etc.
For the pricing, we were surprised with the quality of the seafood offered. Tiger prawns and abalone were huge in size, chewy and juicy, able to taste the freshness. Mussel, oyster and sliced fish were chewy and fresh too. Sliced beef chuck was tender and juicy as well, cut till thin in texture.
Various fish meat were all chewy and fresh in taste, iced tofu was soft and smooth, prawn wanton was chewy and sweet, with the skin thin in texture. Soup dumplings were chewy and juicy as well.
Milk pudding was very soft and smooth, sweet in taste too, with strong milk taste.
